Anchor Donor
The Early Care Foundation is pleased to announce that our first Anchor Donor has committed to partial sponsoring of our operational expenses for the next three years.We are hoping a further4 companies will come forward during 2013. This will allow The Early Care Foundation to be less distracted by the need to fundraise and apply more of our energies in the implementation of projects.
Our Enterprise Development Programme
Our Enterprise Development Programme – an economic empowerment project which trains black women to run creches as sustainable small businesses – has reached a critical mass of53 successful home-based centres.
The Department of Education
The Department of Education confirmed that 36 of the centres we recommended will be inspected in 2013 with a view to registering their Grade R classes.Once registered they will receive a subsidy from the government towards the teachers’ salaries and teaching resources.
C.A.R.E. Skills Development Course
A further 210 unskilled, early childhood practitioners completed our full, C.A.R.E. Skills Development Course. They received certificates at three award ceremonies during the year. Another 120 will be awarded certificates in February 2013.
Our Office Administrator
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Ipeleng Mohlala as Office Administrator. She will start in January 2013 and comes to us with a wealth of NGO and management experience.
Skills Development Courses
Two new skills development courses – • Money Management • Working with Disabled Children
– are now complete and ready for training in 2013.
The Early Care Foundation Bram FischervilleEarly Childhood Centre of Excellence
We received confirmation that two of our donors will complete building the final classroomsat the Bram Fischerville Early Childhood Centre of Excellence by July 2013.
The Early Care Foundation will then have facilities for 160 pre-schoolers as well as
an adult skills development centre.
